Science Fiction Day is celebrated nationally on January 2nd. The date specifically chosen to honor Isaac Asimov (Isaac Yudovich Ozimov).
Asimov born (1920) in the Soviet Union immigrated to the United States after the Bolshevik Revolution. He is considered one of the greatest science fiction writers of the 20th century.
